Region 15 is proud to announce that Library Media Specialist Mrs. Michelle Schwenger has been named the April 2025 Connecticut Southern New England Rosen Publishing School Librarian of the Month. This recognition honors Mrs. Schwenger’s innovative and impactful work in school library programming, particularly her School-wide Virtual Announcements initiative.
This collaborative program fosters student engagement, enhances school-wide communication, and showcases the power of integrating technology and literacy in meaningful ways. It will now be featured in the Southern New England (SNE) bank of best practices—a resource shared with educators across the state.
Mrs. Schwenger will also be recognized at the 2026 Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL) Conference and will receive a complimentary set of books for the Gainfield Elementary School library, courtesy of Rosen Publishing.
The Southern New England Rosen Publishing School Librarian of the Month Award honors certified CASL members who create dynamic programs that empower student learning and elevate the role of school libraries in education. Mrs. Schwenger’s dedication to student-centered learning and her leadership in the media center are a testament to the essential role of school librarians in shaping 21st-century learners.
