PHS is proud to share that Ava Abrilla (Grade 9) was selected through a highly competitive audition process to participate in the 2026 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Eastern Region Conference, ENVISION 2026, held February 25–28 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Ava performed as a member of the conference’s first-ever Contemporary A Cappella Fusion Ensemble, collaborating with talented high school musicians from across the eastern region. The conference featured performances, workshops, and honor choirs, including SSAA and Gospel ensembles, with a focus on equity, innovation, and integrating choral music into daily life.

During the event, Ava had the opportunity to work with nationally recognized composers, arrangers, and performers, including members of the professional a cappella community such as Scott Hoying of Pentatonix. This experience represents an exceptional musical and educational achievement, reflecting her commitment to excellence and growth as a musician.

Orchestra and Choir Director Rachel Sloane also attended the conference, engaging in professional development sessions and workshops designed to strengthen music education programs. The insights and inspiration gained will directly benefit Pomperaug High School’s music students.

We are incredibly proud of Ava for this outstanding accomplishment and grateful for the continued support of the arts within our school community.
