This week, Region 15 joined schools across the country in recognizing National School Bus Safety Week—a time to reflect on the important role we all play in keeping students safe, whether they are riding the bus, crossing the street, or walking near a stop.

Each school day, our students rely on our dedicated team of bus drivers and transportation staff to arrive and return from school safely. Their work ensures that every student’s day begins and ends with care, consistency, and a friendly smile.

On Friday, October 24, Region 15 partnered with our Parent-Teacher Organizations to host an Appreciation Breakfast at the bus depot. We are grateful to the PTOs from across the district who also helped restock the drivers’ lounge with snacks and beverages as a thoughtful gesture of thanks.

We encourage our families to join us in expressing appreciation—this week and throughout the year—for our drivers’ professionalism, patience, and unwavering commitment to student safety.

Safety Reminders for Drivers and Families

  • Stop for the School Bus: When red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended, drivers must stop from both directions on undivided roads.
  • Stay Alert in School Zones: Obey posted speed limits and watch for children walking or biking to and from bus stops.
  • Avoid Distractions: Even a moment of inattention can have devastating consequences.

Together, we can help ensure every student’s journey to and from school is safe. Thank you for your continued partnership in making student safety a top priority.
