Region 15 Schools


Joshua Smith, Superintendent of Region 15 Schools, has announced the 2025 recipients of the Litchfield County Superintendent’s Association (LCSA) awards. This annual recognition, sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS), honors students from across the region for their exceptional leadership, citizenship, academic performance, and service to both school and community.

Six outstanding Region 15 students were selected for this prestigious honor, representing Memorial Middle School, Rochambeau Middle School, and Pomperaug High School:

Memorial Middle School
Katelyn Michitsch – A standout scholar, Katelyn has been recognized as a Patriot Pen finalist and History Day participant. She serves as a Wingman leader and is actively involved in orchestra, chamber orchestra, and athletics, including Cross Country and Basketball. Outside of school, she teaches weekly karate classes, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and leadership.

Naser Chaudhry – Known for his integrity and intellectual curiosity, Naser shines both in and out of the classroom. He participates in soccer, basketball, and table tennis, and played a key role on the regional champion Mathcounts team. His engagement in community sports and religious education further highlights his leadership and well-rounded character.

Rochambeau Middle School
Mia Thoennessen – Mia is a high-achieving student and a positive force in the RMS community. An #RMSPride Spotlight Student, she is recognized for her character and involvement in both athletics and the performing arts, including soccer, chorus, and band.

Mason Reilly – Mason’s academic strength and leadership are reflected through his participation in orchestra and school sports, including basketball and youth football. A recipient of the #RMSPride Spotlight honor, Mason is known for his commitment, character, and school spirit.

Pomperaug High School
Tesu Beavers – Tesu’s achievements span academics, music, and athletics. She is a gifted cellist, member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Captain of the Tennis Team. As the founder of the Ecology and Conservation Club at PHS, Tesu leads environmental advocacy and inspires her peers through her passion and initiative.

Somya Nog – A visionary student leader, Somya founded and serves as President of the PHS chapter of HOSA – Future Health Professionals. Her interests in global health and environmental science are reflected in her volunteerism, writing, and academic research. Her leadership has made an impact both locally and beyond.

“Each of these students exemplifies the values and excellence that we strive to nurture in all our students. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the leadership they bring to our schools and community,” shared Superintendent Joshua Smith.
