Carolina Keenaghan has earned high honors throughout her academic career and has made a meaningful impact on her school and community. A three-sport athlete, she played softball, basketball, and field hockey—serving as co-captain of the field hockey team in eighth grade. Carolina is also active in Exit 17 chorus and a compassionate peer leader through the Wingman program. Her service extends beyond school, volunteering with her church youth group and participating in scouting for four years.
Jackson Fernandez is a dedicated student-athlete and community volunteer. He played for the Mustang Baseball team throughout middle school and participated in Pomperaug youth football and AAU athletics. At school, he has served as a Wingman Leader and tour guide for incoming students, and regularly volunteers to read to elementary students and support his family’s business. His reliability, kindness, and leadership are hallmarks of his character.
Rochambeau Middle School
Morgan McCann is a strong academic performer and an active presence in the school’s arts and service communities. She contributes to the school’s chorus, orchestra, and Drama Club, and supports service efforts through the music department. Morgan also serves as a Peer Tutor, works on the morning announcements team, and is president of the Flanders Nature Center Trailblazers 4-H Club. She was named a Spotlight Student in recognition of her resilience and dedication.
Samuel Labriola is known for his thoughtful leadership and creative spirit. A strong student and a member of the school basketball team, Sam brings positivity and care to everything he does. He has been recognized as a Spotlight Student and is involved in volunteer service in both Connecticut and New York in memory of 9/11. His quiet strength and determination leave a lasting impression on those around him.
Pomperaug High School
Alice Sugden has made the most of her academic and extracurricular opportunities at PHS. A high-achieving student in honors and AP courses, Alice is also an accomplished performer with leading roles in several Pomperaug Theater Company productions and a HALO Award nomination. She is a leader in the Oxford EMS Explorers program, where she has expanded participation through her initiative and enthusiasm. Her kindness and leadership have helped build a welcoming environment for fellow students.
Dylan Duda is a natural leader whose kindness and communication skills set him apart. A dedicated Link Crew member, Dylan has helped incoming students feel supported and connected. His positive energy, empathy, and consistent encouragement of others have earned him admiration from peers and staff alike.
“Their achievements, leadership, and character set a high standard and serve as an inspiration to their peers and the community,” said Superintendent Joshua Smith.
