Internet Safety Concepts Wednesday November 17 6:30pm What to Know to keep your children safe on the internet
Jessica Clark

S.M.A.R.T., Inc. would like to invite all Region 15 parents to attend a virtual webinar on Wednesday, November 17th at 6:30pm called Internet Safety Concepts.  Region 15 middle and high school students will be participating in a student version of this program which is intended to educate and increase awareness of the possible consequences youth may face when not considering safety using technology.

S.M.A.R.T. has brought Scott Driscoll, the founder and presenter of the Internet Safety Concepts programs, to our communities in the past and his presentations are always extremely well-received!  Scott is a former law enforcement youth officer, having spent years with a local CT police department, establishing rapport with youth in the community and conducting undercover investigations of crimes committed using the internet.  Scott’s message is simple:  “if we don’t consider safety while we are online and using other technology, we can put ourselves and others in danger.”

The ways the internet is being used have dramatically shifted, even since the last time Scott joined us, and the constant surge of new information, programs, and accessibility to social media apps with lesser regulations and monitoring has become a concern, especially for our younger populations.  Join us to learn the ins and outs of the technology your children may be using, what is and is not age-appropriate, and the positives but also potential downfalls to these new, ever-shifting internet platforms.

We encourage you all to join us on Wednesday, November 17th at 6:30pm- by attending, you will receive all the information you would need to have any follow-up conversation with your child(ren) after they’ve been a part of their own similar program!

Please email S.M.A.R.T., with any questions!
