GES & PES Construction Projects

The GES/PES Building Committee met on September 10, 2026, to discuss the next steps in the planning and construction process for the new Gainfield and Pomperaug Elementary Schools.

• Committee Leadership: Christine Carver was unanimously appointed Chairperson of the GES/PES Building Committee.

• Construction Manager Review: The Committee will review seven active Construction Manager proposals over the next three weeks.

• Owner’s Representative: Following the initial Construction Manager proposal review, the Committee will move forward with the procurement process for an Owner’s Representative.

• Committee Role: The Committee discussed its role and relationship with the Board of Education. Board members serving on the Building Committee will help to maintain communication between the two groups.

At its online meeting on Thursday, July 9, the Region 15 Board of Education voted to establish the Building Committee that will oversee the district's multi-year elementary school construction projects at Gainfield Elementary School and Pomperaug Elementary School.

The committee will provide oversight and guidance throughout the planning, design, and construction phases of the elementary school projects following voter approval of the district's $224 million construction plan.

The Building Committee is comprised of six members of the Board of Education, two community representatives, and two ex-officio district administrators.

Project updates, milestones, and opportunities for community engagement will continue to be shared with the public throughout the duration of the project.
